This British Columbia based company, called Sotana Canada Immigration Consultancy, is also known by another name, BC Happy Homes Immigration Services.
The business opened in 1992 and has four branches in the Philippines, these are found in ILoilo, Bacolod, Manila and General Santos according to their website. How far can you really trust this company to make your application a success?
Our Sotana Canada Immigration Consultancy review gives you the inside scoop on how this consultancy operates.
About Sotana Canada Immigration Consultancy
The company is run and owned by RCIC (Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant), Natie Sotana, R419671, who earned her degree at the University of British Columbia in 1992. Since then, Natie works to help her clients gain permanent residency in Canada and she assists with live-in caregivers and visitor visa applications.
Natie does not work alone, her daughter Cristie Lane Sotana-Tayde, RCIC number R419679, also helps with the family business.
Services of the Sotana Canada Immigration Consultancy
The company offers a variety of services to their Philippine customers, like:
- Permanent residence visa processing;
- Caregiver processing;
- Student permits;
- Visits visas;
- Business migration;
- Family class sponsorship; and
- Temporary work permits
As we continued our Sotana Canada Immigration Consultancy review, we found that they offer a free Assessment for each application before you apply. We thought this is a nice touch as the sign up assessment is fairly detailed and covers a lot of importance immigration questions.
Although not the most visually appealing site, the company does have all the relevant information you need about some of the more popular programs like Express Entry.
There are a few errors like videos that do not work and grammar errors in their content.
We also noticed that the site is not HTTPS secure, meaning that if you enter in sensitive information like your credit card details there is the potential security risk that hackers may gain access to this information.
Maybe Natie includes these documents when you apply for a your visa, though it is not found on the site map itself.
Social Media Sotana Canada Immigration Consultancy Review
We discovered that the company has a Facebook account that opened in 2010. Unfortunately, the company does not have that many followers, even after eight years, a mere 2,768 people like their page.
Another fact we discovered about the company is that it really isn’t updated, Natie last posted in early 2016.
As we looked further into the page, we noticed that Natie talks a lot about seminars that she hosted in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, which is strange considering that most of her clients are from the Philippines. Her website made no mention of assisting people immigrate from other countries besides the Philippines as all of her company’s branch offices are located there.
As we continued our Sotana Canada Immigration Consultancy review, we found that she does not seem to respond to customer queries, which is always a worrying factor in terms of customer service.
We discovered that Natie also has a business Twitter page that was created in 2012, and like her Facebook account, it has very few followers.
Another fact is that she has not been active on this platform for more than six years! We think that she may have forgotten about this platform altogether.
We end our Sotana Canada Immigration Consultancy review on a positive note. The company does have two registered RCIC who work for the company and the website does have a lot of useful information about the various visa programs and their requirements.
We did like the fact that the company offers free assessments before going ahead with your application, although we did not find out the actual costs involved.
A couple of things that the company needs to improve on are its social media accounts which have been, for the most part, ignored over the years. This is important, because a lot of customers make contact with these companies via Facebook and other platforms.
There were also a few technical issues that Natie needs to look at, like video links that do not work or just plain bad grammar on her site.
