The Law Firm with mixed reviews.
It is not an uncommon thing for immigration lawyers to partner up with immigration consultants these days, and one company that has a dynamic duo able to assist you is Immigration.ca.
According to the website, Immigration.ca has been in operation since 1994, and offers a guiding light to thousands of clients wishing to immigrate to Canada. It is run and operated by accredited immigration lawyer Colin Singer as well as accredited RCIC Immigration Consultant Mayada Jamil; RCIC Number – R412439.
According to the website, Colin R. Singer is the Managing Partner of both InvestmentImmigration.com and immigration.ca, and is one of Canada’s foremost senior corporate immigration attorneys. He is recognised and accredited by the Barreau du Québec.
Looking at the website, we have found that it is a little sloppy – the spacing between words and the sentences is too big, while the social media icons do not link through to their pages. These are minor issues which can be fixed easily, which makes us wary in trusting their capabilities.
Immigration.ca takes caters to a large variety of clients and has translated the website into six different languages to make it more accessible. So for those not comfortable with English, you are in luck – there is French, Arabic, Russian, Spanish, Portuguese and of course English. With different portals that include advice on studying in Canada and employment in Canada, the website makes it easy for new clients to find their way around.
Immigration.ca has a free online evaluation form that clients can take. The company will then get in touch with you if you meet the requirements to immigrate to Canada. The assessment test can be taken in English and French.
Their website has a job search page, which means Immigration.ca also works as a recruitment agency for employers. This is good news as most immigration companies do not offer such resources.
It should be noted though, that according to one of their former clients, Immigration.ca charges you (the potential employee) to help you look for a job. This is rather odd, as most recruitment agencies charge the employer and not the potential employee.
Social media and content:
The social media platforms are updated regularly, from Facebook to YouTube and all the way to twitter, all operated by Colin Singer. Immigration.ca keeps its clients and followers updated with anything and everything Canadian.
The website also has a podcast explaining who can immigrate to Canada and qualify for the Canadian Citizenship and much more. There are immigration videos on YouTube, News Articles are uploaded regularly, there is a dynamic discussion forum and phone consultations.
Take note that the phone consultation is not free – costing US $99.95 for a 30-minute personal telephone consultation. While this might seem costly, speaking directly to immigration professionals may well be worth the investment. While this is less than what some law firms charge, it is worth mentioning that other firms do offer the same for free if you sign up with them.
Reviews and False Advertising:
Everything about Immigration.co looks legitimate, so why do they have so many bad reviews? Most of the reviews we found online were customers complaining about the qualified immigration lawyer and the false advertising on the website. Clients complain that “his services are really bad”, that his “service fees are too expensive”. One client goes as far as to say that: “the only good reviews about the company and lawyer are on sites that Colin Singer controls himself”.
Immigration.ca advertise on Google Ads, claiming that clients can get Permanent Resident Status within 6 months. That is something no company or law firm can ever guarantee and it does take a while to get your Permanent Residence – so watch out for that.
How much does it cost?
Immigration.ca is a legitimate company however, just read and check on pricing before agreeing to sign anything. You should also be wary of what is said in their advertising.
