Can you trust Ferreira & Koach?
This immigration consultancy has been in operation since the late 1960’s and was first established in 1975 by Peter Ferreira and Edward Koach. According to their website, the two founders started their careers with the Ministry of Immigration and then eventually worked their way to senior positions. Both founders are registered RCIC and MARA members.
Ferreira and Koach proclaim themselves to be “one of the most respected and successful Immigration Consulting firms in Canada”, with branch offices located in Bahrain, Shanghai, China and Hong Kong. But are they really that good?
At first glance, their website looks like it could do with a facelift. In all fairness, there are a few pretty images here and there, but the font is bland and quite small. The upside to this site is that it does seem to contain lots of information pertaining to their services, immigration and other interesting aspects of the immigration process and life in Canada. Ferreira and Koach also offers immigration consulting services for those looking to immigrate to Australia and offers a free initial assessment. The site has a ‘Featured articles’ section that contains news and events relating to immigration – however it has not been updated since 2010.
According to their website, Ferreira and Koach offers a range of services which include:
- Immigration Consultancy for Canada and Australia in following Categories:
- Independent Skilled Workers
- Assessment for certain academic qualifications
- Removal of Terms & Conditions
- Family Class Sponsorship/Positions of Trust
- Worker/Student Visa
- Appeals to the Immigration & Refugee Board
- In-Canada Applications
- Canadian Citizenship
- PR card (permanent residence card) related services
Social Media and Online Review
The Ferreira and Koach Facebook page does not have a large following, but it is well saturated with relevant content that is updated almost regularly. The same could not be said for the Twitter page though, with the last post dating back to 2013 and a repetitive stream of the same shared content – a newspaper clipping that advertises their services in Bahrain.
In an online search for any possible red flags, we came across a positive client review of this company.
From a face-value perspective, Ferreira and Koach seem to be a legitimate immigration consultancy. We are concerned that they do not display and terms and conditions page on this website but they are transparent about the fact that they do charge fees eventually – we just need to know if there are any refund policies and whether they account for cancellations. We do however appreciate that their service is a long-standing one and that they have more than one RCIC member on board.
